Studio City BMW chase ends with arrests

Police pursued two shooting suspects in a silver BMW sedan through the streets of Studio City at approximately 5 p.m. Friday. The suspects were considered armed and dangerous. One was caught immediately after a crash; the second one was arrested after an extended search by K-9 units.Police responded to a report of shooting suspects, and located and pursued a late-model silver BMW sedan in North Hollywood.

The BMW drove at extremely high rates of speed through residential neighborhoods, from North Hollywood to the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Ventura boulevards. The BMW continued to try to elude police pursuit through residential streets in the Studio City area south of the Laurel Canyon/Ventura intersection.

The BMW hit a culvert at high speed, became briefly airborne, and lost control, crashing into several parked vehicles on the street.

Two suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to run away; one suspect was immediately apprehended by police.

The other suspect jumped over a gate and was seen from a helicopter running through back yards, including a yard with people lounging in a pool.

Police had set up a perimeter in the area, from Viewcrest Rd. to the south, Hollyglen Place to the north, Vantage Ave. to the east, and Laurel Terrace Dr. to the west. Police brought K-9 units to the scene.

Police caught the missing suspect at approximately 6:20 p.m.
