Auto accident knocks out Redondo power

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. Officials say a suspected drunken driver was at the wheel of a car that crashed into a power pole and knocked out power in North Redondo Beach just before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Some 2,400 customers were left without electrical power.

Redondo Beach police say Manuel Morales of Hawthorne was speeding and lost control of his car.

Investigators say the car crashed into a power pole, a fence and a parked car on Blossom Lane and Dufour Avenue.

Morales was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. It was not clear if Morales was injured in the collision.
