Boy allegedly thrown out of moving truck

VAN NUYS, Calif. Police said a man in a white pickup truck was driving and fighting with a young boy on the 13800 block of Sylvan Street at about 9 p.m. Thursday when the man allegedly threw the boy out of the truck and onto the pavement.

"The father got out and tried to force him back into the car. When he failed, he threw him on the ground and kicked him a few times according to witnesses," said LAPD officer M. Haro.

The man threw the boy back into the truck and drove northbound on Ranchiro, but as they were driving, police said the boy got out and flagged down a passerby in a vehicle and told the person his father was beating him up.

Police launched a search for the father, and the boy was taken to the hospital. He is now in protective custody.

Police said Friday morning that a male adult has been arrested for child abuse, but no further details were available.
