Cal Poly Pomona cancels summer session

POMONA, Calif. All classes that had been scheduled to begin on June 22 and July 29 have been canceled.

However, to support graduation requirements, /*Cal Poly Pomona*/ will offer a fee-based summer schedule through its College of the Extended University. Those courses are set to begin on July 13.

In the University of California system, UC Riverside announced cuts of up to $40 million from spending. University officials said the cuts may come in the form of furloughs, pay cuts and layoffs.

The /*Los Angeles Community College District*/ and the /*Los Angeles Unified School District*/ have also canceled most of their summer classed due to budget cuts.
