LYNWOOD, Calif. --
A hit-and-run driver is the subject of a manhunt after a crash in Lynwood left a 37-year old man dead.Los Angeles County Sheriff
's investigators say the driver was behind the wheel of a maroon minivan that slammed into a Honda Accord
driven by Jose Valenzuela Ramos, 37, at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, about 1 a.m. Sunday. The impact was so severe it split the Accord in two. Ramos was pronounced dead a short time later.
Sheriff's deputies say the driver of the minivan ran away from the scene after the accident. A passenger in the minivan was questioned by police, but no arrests have been made.
Ramos is from Mexico and has no known relatives in the United States. Friends are trying to raise money to send his body back to his family.
