SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --
The 22-year old son of Irvine Councilwoman Beth Krom has died after apparently falling off a Santa Barbara-area shoreline cliff. Santa Barbara County Sheriff's spokesman Drew Sugars confirmed that Noah Krom died over the weekend. Krom was a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was expected to graduate later this month. His body was discovered Saturday by three people walking on Isla Vista beach. An investigation into his death is now underway.
The Orange County Register says authorities in Santa Barbara say the steep cliffs overlooking the beach are extremely hazardous, with regular reports of injuries and deaths.
Councilwoman Beth Krom is a candidate in California's 48th Congressional District. On her campaign Web site, Beth Krom and her husband, Solly Krom, wrote: "We appreciate the kind thoughts, prayers and messages we have received from our friends, the community, and our colleagues, as well as messages from those who have touched Noah's life over the years. We are grateful for your support during this difficult time."
