Sandra Bullock returns in 'The Proposal'

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES In "The Proposal," Sandra Bullock plays a powerful executive on the brink of being deported. She coerces her assistant, played by Ryan Reynolds, to marry her so she can stay in the country, and he can stay employed.

Initially, Bullock wasn't interested in making this movie because of two words: "romantic comedy."

"That's why I kept saying -- they said, 'There's this script,' and as soon as they said that 'R-C' word, I was like, 'I'm not doing it. I don't like them. They're not funny. I have nothing to do in them," said Bullock. And then I read it and I said, 'This isn't a romantic comedy. This is a comedy from, like, the '30s and '40s."

To keep up the marriage facade, Bullock's character ends up traveling to Alaska to meet her future in-laws.

Reynolds and Bullock share a room, and an embarrassing moment that took some time to shoot.

"Because there's a dog that I had to deal with, a hairdryer, a little sponge and some things I had to cover. He only had to cover one thing. I had to cover a couple of things and work with an animal," said Bullock.

"I think we can safely say there was complete nudity there," said Reynolds. "It did make it a little awkward, but at the same time I would prefer to do that with someone I know rather than someone I don't -- especially if it's going to be three days of expertly lit naked stunts."

The movie also features actress Betty White. "The Proposal" opens Friday.
