Malibu to get a new city hall

MALIBU, Calif. That's because the city bought a foreclosed building right next to the existing city hall located at 23815 Stuart Ranch Road, just off the Pacific Coast Highway.

The city purchased the property at auction for $15 million. It once housed the Malibu Performing Arts Center, which was owned by the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Malibu.

The new building will provide more than 35,000 square feet of additional, rentable space. It includes a performance studio and a recording studio. The building will be home to Malibu city services, the senior center and other community services.

City officials say the expansion is not costing taxpayers anything extra.

Relocation is expected in 2010.
