Freight train hits, kills transient

LOMA LINDA, Calif. Police said the train's engineer spotted the man sitting on the tracks and initiated emergency stopping procedures at about 1:15 a.m., but it was too late.

The man has been identified as Johnny Rogers, 45, and police say he was a transient.

The engineer told investigators he could see the man moving just prior to impact.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.
