10-year-old boy saves grandfather's life

ROSWELL, N.M. It all started when Lonnie Lee began having severe chest pains. Instead of calling 911, Lee asked his grandson Nathaniel to help him drive to an emergency room.

At times, Lee lapsed in and out of consciousness while behind the steering wheel, but from the passenger side, Nathaniel kept the car under control and headed to the hospital.

Nathaniel said the worst part was having to steer while his grandfather had his feet on the peddles.

"He was talking to me constantly. 'Papa wake up, papa stay awake,'" said Lee.

The pair ran several red lights before getting to the hospital with Nathaniel taking the wheel several times.

Turns out Lee had a massive heart attack, but he's expected to recover. Doctors said he was just minutes from death had he not gotten to the hospital.

"I'm lucky to be here," said Lee.
