Fee hike on the 91 toll road

ORANGE, Calif. Beginning on Wednesday, fees will increase 5 to 10 cents. Costs will range from $1.30 to $9.90 depending on the hour of day, day of the week and the direction of travel.

The /*91 Express Lanes*/ tolls were set by the Orange County Transportation Authority in 2004. The policy requires an annual toll adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index and Labor Index.

In addition to the price hike, the toll will decrease by 50 cents during the 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. hour on Thursdays for drivers going eastbound. The reduction is because of a decrease in traffic volume during that time period.

The 91 express lanes run 10 miles and link Orange and Riverside counties.
