Obese people at risk with X-rays?

Overweight and obese patients are usually given higher than normal doses of radiation to get usable X-ray images.

Exposure can be up to 40 times as much for an overweight patient than a slender person.

Scientists say more research is needed on the long-term effects of such high doses.

The study is reported in the July issue of Radiology.
