Ventura County 911 call system restored

CAMARILLO, Calif. An alert from the /*Ventura County Fire Protection District*/ said the outage was widespread and that county fire and law enforcement agencies advised residents to go to their nearest police or fire station to report an emergency.

The county's alert also said that fire engines were being recalled to their stations to be available to the public. The emergency notification said law enforcement agencies were positioning officers strategically so the public could find them quickly.

County officials said the 911 system may have been working in some areas, but officials stressed that residents should be prepared to contact police or fire departments directly if there were an emergency.
