Judge denies new trial for designer

LOS ANGELES Alexander's lawyers asked for a new trial on the basis of juror misconduct, saying a juror had improperly contacted Alexander's sister.

In his ruling, Superior Court Judge David Wesley did find that the juror and Alexander's sister acted inappropriately and held both in contempt of court. However, Wesley ruled that their contact did not taint the verdicts.

Monday's ruling upholds multiple convictions last year against Alexander, who was charged with luring aspiring models to Los Angeles and raping them.

Alexander will be sentenced at the end of August.
