INGLEWOOD, Calif. --
The latest officer-involved shooting in Inglewood is now the subject of an FBI investigation. The L.A. Times confirmed that the FBI has opened a criminal investigation into the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Marcus Smith in May.
Inglewood's police chief says she's confident the FBI will validate her department's initial findings that Smith was armed and pointed his gun at officers, but some witnesses claim Smith did not brandish a weapon.
The department was already under scrutiny as a result of several fatal officer-involved shootings last year.
