Police say the two suspects first entered the Citibank in the 22000 block of Ventura Boulevard at about 12:10 p.m. Officials say one was armed with a handgun, the other with a long-barrel gun. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and left a suspicious device on the counter.
About 30 minutes after the Citibank robbery, the same two suspects robbed a U.S. Bank branch at 17250 Ventura Boulevard.
The LAPD bomb squad was called to the scene of the Citibank robbery due to the suspicious device. Police shut down the intersection of Topanga and Ventura until they could render the device safe.
As of 2 p.m., the suspects remained at large.
