S.D. wants seal removal order lifted

SAN DIEGO, Calif. The city attorney says the request will be made Thursday and the city will appeal if the judge refuses.

Just hours after a judge ruled the seals must go, Governor Schwarzenegger Monday night signed a state bill giving San Diego power to allow the seal colony to remain.

Activists have waged a decade-long court battle over whether the cove should be reserved for humans or seals.
