L.A. Marathon gets new name, route

LOS ANGELES Next year's 25th annual race will be called the Stadium to the Sea marathon.

The 26.2-mile race will begin at Dodger Stadium. It will go through Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and end at the Pacific Ocean.

Race officials say the final route has not been set. However, they want runners to pass by some of the area's most famous landmarks.

The Santa Monica City Council approved on Tuesday a measure allowing the marathon to go through the coastal town.

Last year's race included 20,000 runners, 12,000 volunteers and 1 million spectators along the route.
