SANTA ANA, Calif. --
An autopsy is pending on the body of a suspect fatally shot by Santa Ana police on Tuesday night. Police said an officer was responding to a call of a suspicious person in the 2700 block of North Grand Avenue at about 6:30 p.m.
The officer was involved in a confrontation with the suspect in an alley behind the hotel, and after making contact with the suspect, shots were fired.
The man was shot and taken to a local hospital, where he died. The suspect has not been identified.
No one else was injured in the incident.
The shooting remains under investigation.
