Golddiggers return, better and wiser

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. Long before the Pussycat Dolls ever meowed, the Golddiggers were a hot commodity on television. Now some 40 years later, some of the original Golddiggers are back together again.

They're still good as gold. They became stars as part of Dean Martin's weekly TV variety show. Now they're shining at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.

Yes, time has passed. But it's certainly not passing these ladies by.

"And it just brings back to us what we were back then, and it's just so exciting for us to be back on stage doing this live again," said Sheila Allan.

"You'll see some leg, that's for sure," said Nancy Sinclair. "And you'll see a very sexy number in our show as well."

"I think it's a different kind of sex appeal that we bring to the audience from 40 years ago," said Jackie Chidsey. "But if that's what comes, and that's what you got from us, that's just great."

So what do these stars have now that they didn't have 40 years ago for today's audience to appreciate?

"I think experience," said Susie Ewing. "Just our lifetime of experience, and the nostalgia that we bring back, and just having everybody remember what it was like."

"It's just great to come back and have those memories, and have new ones that we're making now," said Holly Kalmenson.

These Golddiggers are having a blast and picking up where they left off.

"It's your time. Don't sit at home and feel sorry for yourself," said Rosie Gitlin. "Get up and do something that you wanted to do. And it's just been fabulous."
