CHINO, Calif. --A dormitory building went up in flames at the State Prison at Chino as prisoners began rioting Saturday night. Prison officials said the riot broke out just before 8:30 p.m. About 1,300 inmates were involved in the riot in seven dormitory buildings and a reception center.
Some prisoners were transported to a hospital. There is no word on the extent of their injuries, the amount of damage, or the cause of the riot.
The prison has been on lockdown since an earlier disturbance broke out Thursday evening.
