Search for Bratton replacement begins

LOS ANGELES The head of the personnel department will be meeting with members of the police commission to start the process of finding a replacement for Chief William Bratton.

Bratton announced last week that he was resigning to take a job in New York with a private security company.

His resignation is effective October 31.

City leaders say they hope to have someone in his place before he leaves.
