LOS ANGELES --
L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is calling a mailer, sent out by the city's firefighters union, a tasteless bargaining chip in labor negotiations. The mailer shows graphic photos of last September's deadly Metrolink train crash in Chatsworth.
Union president Pat McOsker says budget cuts will mean fewer firefighters, trucks and ambulances to respond to such emergencies.
Villaraigosa says the mailer's message is misleading.
Meanwhile, firefighters plan to hit the streets of Chatsworth on Saturday to warn the public about the consequences of the city's proposed cutbacks.
