MISSION BAY, Calif. --
The Border Patrol is testing the latest weapon in the battle against smugglers. It's a bigger, faster, better-equipped boat with advanced navigation systems. One of the new features is a high definition infrared video camera that can track targets from a distance.
"You see a spec on the horizon, you got to drive out there until you can see it to determine what it is," explained Joshua Johnson from Customs and Border Patrol. "With this, you don't have to do that."
Border agents say smugglers are increasingly turning to the water to bring in contraband, whether it's drugs or people.
