Avila Beach nuclear plant back online

AVILA BEACH, Calif. Pacific Gas and Electric restarted the reactor Saturday night. The reactor at the /*Diablo Canyon Plant*/ in Avila Beach was shut down a week ago because of a problem with a transformer.

Last August, a transformer problem in the same unit exploded and sparked an oil fire. As a result, the unit was shut down for 20 days.

Diablo Canyon produces about 2,300 megawatts of electricity, enough for three million homes.
