Bear seen wandering around Sierra Madre

SIERRA MADRE, Calif. Police say the bear, estimated to be about 300 pounds, was seen walking around homes on Lima Street near Grandview Avenue.

The bear knocked over garbage cans and ripped through the bags in an effort to find food. One resident even spotted the animal in a tree.

There's no official word on exactly what type of bear it is.

No one has been hurt, and investigators say /*bear sightings*/ are pretty common in the area.

"We get bear calls quite often here but usually they just you know take off before we get here. It's never been an issue," said Sgt. Edward Delcoure.
