The Reno Gazette-Journal identified the man as Mark Alan Dickson, most recently of Glendora, and his wife as 47-year-old Rebecca Gonzaga.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fall, but say their early findings show an equipment malfunction with the chairlift.
Authorities said the couple was planning to move to the South Lake Tahoe area.
