Ernie D. (Radio Disney)

Ernest Martinez is one of Radio Disney's most prominent on-air personalities. To his audience he is affectionately known as "Ernie D." As the station's main DJ and Creative Director, Ernie D sets the tone for the Radio Disney Network's family-friendly music and programming. Vista L.A. visited Ernie D. at the Radio Disney Studios in Burbank. He talks about his interaction with listeners and in-studio interviews with prominent Disney stars, such as Hanna Montana, Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers.

YOLA: The Magic of Classical Music

"Youth Orchestra L.A.," also known as YOLA, is a music program for children in underserved neighborhoods of Los Angeles, primarily in Central and South L.A. Under the direction of incoming L.A. Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and L.A. Philharmonic President Deborah Borda, the mission of Youth Orchestra L.A. is to put instruments in the hands of children and give them the best quality instruction by creating new and leveraging ensemble programs, all free of cost. Another key goal in cultivating the young orchestra members is to instill life-long values, such as discipline and teamwork.

Tia Chucha's Cultural Center

Luis Rodriguez and his wife Trini Rodriguez co-founded Tia Chucha's Cultural Center to fill a cultural and artistic need in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. Vista L.A. interviewed Luis Rodriguez, author of the best-selling memoir "Always Running", about the cultural center and what it brings to the community. Also featured in our story is John Densmore, drummer of the legendary band "The Doors" and long-time Tia Chucha's supporter.
