Demand grows at Southland food banks

LOS ANGELES The /*L.A. Regional Food Bank*/ says the number of people seeking help has reached a quarter-of-a-million, up 34 percent from last year. The agency says it now supplies its 500 pantries with a million pounds of food every week.

The food bank says people who've donated food in the past are now showing up at pantries in L.A. County, looking for help.
