Ordinance could close farmers markets

LOS ANGELES That ordinance passed with little publicity at the beginning of the month. It would charge the markets for traffic control, traffic barriers and no parking signs.

For some markets, the cost would be tens of thousands of dollars. The city had been picking up those costs.

/*Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa*/ has until Friday to decide whether to okay the ordinance.
