VENTURA --
Police in Ventura are the first to use a new computerized dispatch system that can quickly send officers more detailed information when they respond to a 911 call.In just seconds, the system gives officers access to suspect's photos, previous police contacts and potential dangers nearby. If a child goes missing, a digital picture can be sent straight to officers' patrol cars.
Because Ventura helped test the system, the department is getting what is normally a $1 million system for just $300,000.
