Police: O.C. woman's death suspicious

ANAHEIM, Calif. Anaheim police are investigating what they call a suspicious death at the Saratoga Condominiums in Anaheim.

Investigators say the daughter of 75-year-old Mary Bowman called paramedics last Wednesday night, saying that her mother had fallen.

Mary Bowman was rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center, suffering blunt force trauma to the head. She was in a coma until Sunday morning, when she passed away.

Police are now looking for answers.

Bowman lived at her residence alone. She has a daughter in northern California, who has spoken to authorities about her mother. The woman's other daughter was at the condo Wednesday when paramedics arrived.

"It is highly suspicious in nature," said Tim Schmidt of the Anaheim Police Department. "We're combing all the aspects we can. We've gone through the apartment several times. We have checked with the neighbors. There's all indications there might be more to this case than originally meets the eye."

"I came home like 8:30 at the time, and I saw some paramedics and [an] ambulance in here," said neighbor Ophelia Gillanders. "May you rest in peace Mary. I will pray for you."

Police are asking for the public's help in their investigation into the suspicious death. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Anaheim Police Detective's Bureau at (714) 765-1944.
