California's budget crisis could mean a shorter school year for some students. School districts in the San Gabriel Valley and Whittier area have cut up to a week of class time from the school calendar.Whittier School district and Los Nietos have already decided to drop a week from the academic calendar.
Whittier Union High School District is considering taking four days off.
School district officials hope to minimize the impact on students by removing days off the school calendar from the end of the school year and extending Thanksgiving and winter breaks.
