September 24, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
A blaze that scorched about 25 acres of brush in La Cresta, near Murrieta, and forced the evacuation of a country club, was 75 percent contained, with full containment expected by midnight, fire officials said. The non-injury fire was reported just before noon near Skyhigh Drive and Skybreeze Court, said Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire.

It was 75 percent contained by 3 p.m., with full control expected by 6 p.m. Friday, she said.

An evacuation order affecting the Bear Creek Golf and Country Club, on Bear Creek Drive in Murrieta, was lifted after 1:40 p.m.

About 185 firefighters, including helicopter and plane crews fought the blaze, Hagemann said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
