Brush fire breaks out near Lancaster

LANCASTER, Calif. The fire was burning due east of Elizabeth Lake in the Lancaster area. The fire has been dubbed by firefighters as the "Hillside Incident."

The brush fire burned approximately 75 acres with 10 mph winds. The fire was 65 percent contained Friday night.

Firefighters requested tankers and superscoopers to help fight the fire.

According to officials, homes were originally thought to be threatened near Johnson Hill Road. Firefighters had called for help with structure protection. There was a brief voluntary evacuation of the area. No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Approximately 150 firefighters were battling the blaze, and four helicopters and two water-dropping aircraft were at the scene.
