Woman wins gender case against Wal-Mart

LOS ANGELES She was fired by Wal-Mart, because she asked to be paid the same as her male colleagues.

The woman worked as a pharmacist at a Massachusetts Wal-Mart.

After being fired, she sued.

A jury found that the company discriminated against her and awarded $1 million in compensatory damages and another million in punitive.

A judge later revoked the punitive award.

Monday, the state supreme court upheld the ruling and reinstated the second million.

Wal-Mart had claimed the woman was fired for violating pharmacy rules.
