Teen girls arrested after hammer attack

OAKLAND, Calif. The two Oakland girls were arrested early Friday morning after an attack on a 32-year-old woman late Thursday.

Police say one of the girls hit the woman with a hammer, while the second girl swiped at her with a steak knife.

The woman was able to escape her attackers and call for help, with police later arresting two girls fitting the description provided by the woman.

Prosecutors on Friday filed attempted murder charges against the girl police say they found carrying a hammer, while the girl officers say had a knife on her was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Both girls were also charged with charged with attempted robbery.
