Tournament of Roses royal court chosen

PASADENA, Calif. The young women were selected from 26 finalists. They were judged based on several qualities including public speaking ability and academic achievement.

The seven Rose princesses are 16-year-old Natalie Anne Innocenzi of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 18-year-old Katherine Margarita Hernández of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 17-year-old June Ko of Arcadia High School, 17-year-old Lauren Samantha Rogers of Blair High School, 18-year-old Kinsey Elizabeth Stuart of Pasadena City College, 17-year-old Ashley Renee Thaxton of John Marshall Fundamental High School and 17-year-old Michelle Louise Van Wyk of La Canada High School.

"These young ladies were selected from a pool of the most talented and poised in the Pasadena area. They are truly remarkable and will be wonderful ambassadors for our /*Rose Parade*/ and /*Rose Bowl*/ game," said Alex Aghajanian, chairman of the queen and court committees, in a statement.

According to officials, all the members of the Royal Court are expected to attend more than 150 community and media functions leading up to the 121st Rose Parade and 96th Rose Bowl game on Friday, Jan. 1.

The 2010 Rose Queen will be announced at Tournament House on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
