Pet turtles sparked salmonella outbreak

According to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control, pet turtles sparked a 2007-2008 salmonella outbreak.

The outbreak sickened more than 100 people in 34 states, including 10 in California.

Most of the victims were children.

Even though the sale of small turtles is banned, most of the infected animals were bought at pet shops, flea markets and online.
