Motorcyclist flees police, hits parked car

LOS ANGELES The survivor of the roughly 1:50 a.m. crash on Eastern Avenue near Lombardy Boulevard was taken to a hospital in critical condition, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Helmut Kramer of the Hollenbeck Station.

Omar Madrigal, 25, of Los Angeles, died at the scene, a Los Angeles County coroner's investigator said.

Police tried to stop the motorcycle for an unspecified reason on Eastern near Klamath Street, but Madrigal refused to pull over and continued north on Eastern, with the pursuing officer calling for backup, Kramer said.

Within seconds, the motorcycle crashed into the parked vehicle just north of Lombardy Boulevard, Kramer said.
