The show has earned America an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a SAG Award. But rather than focusing on what Betty has brought her personally, she prefers looking at the big picture and what this show has given to many of its fans.
"She is such a role model and the show has meant so much too so many communities, Latino, gay, women, anyone who feels like an underdog," said Ferrera. "I've gotten the good run off of that ."
America enjoys seeing how the character has grown over the show's three seasons.
"I've always seen this character as one who would blossom -- her inner and outer beauty," said Ferrera. "It doesn't mean that she'll be a supermodel or a size 0 in a Prada suit, but I do see her blossoming into a place where she embraces her beauty and her gifts and talents, emotionally and physically."
