Crews clean 400-gal NorCal oil spill

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. Wildlife rescuers are scooping up oil-soaked birds from beaches.

So far, they've taken at least 30 to a wildlife recovery center, but for countless others, it was too late.

As a precaution, the Department of Fish and Game has suspended fishing and shellfish harvesting in the bay.

The oil spill occurred Friday during a fuel transfer involving a Panamanian flagged ship.

That ship is being moved from its anchorage to a pier where its hull will be cleaned.
