FBI clears former Assemblyman Duvall

LOS ANGELES The charges Duvall faced related to a federal investigation about his now public comments caught on tape about an alleged sexual involvement with an energy lobbyist.

Duvall was the vice chairman of the Assembly's Committee on Utilities and Commerce when he made the remarks.

Duvall made the comments about the affairs to Assemblyman Jeff Miller during a break in a committee meeting inside the Capitol on July 8, apparently unaware that the microphone at his desk was on.

When his recorded comments were broadcast over the Internet in early September, Duvall promptly resigned.

However, the married 54-year-old Orange County Republican said that his "decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs."
