Burbank police chief to step down

BURBANK, Calif. The FBI has launched a probe investigating claims of misconduct and civil rights violations in the Burbank Police Department.

The investigation is reportedly unrelated to civil lawsuits filed by officers claiming a pattern of racial discrimination in the department.

The recent suicide of Burbank Officer Neil Gunn caused further controversy for the department after Gunn's family blamed the suicide on the lack of leadership in the department.

In a Monday news release, Burbank City Manager Michael Flad said an interim chief would assume duties no later than January 1, with Stehr assisting the transition for 30 to 60 days.
