Donation level down for U.S. charities

LOS ANGELES They've seen a significant drop in giving already this year and the holidays aren't looking much better.

A new survey shows about the same number of Americans giving to charity, but they are giving fewer dollars due to the struggling economy.

The survey found only 38 percent of Americans say they are likely to give a charitable gift for the holidays, compared to 49 percent last year.

However, 74 percent of respondents say they plan to increase their charitable giving once the economy improves.
