The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes.
Fire crews found a woman in her 60s not breathing. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Apartment blaze kills woman in Van Nuys
VAN NUYS, Calif. Authorities responded to the blaze just after 2 a.m. at an apartment complex on the 14100 block of Erwin Street. The building was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
