Student crowned in annual stuffing cook-off

LOS ANGELES Seven students qualified for Thursday's finals.

To impress the judges, contestants had to come up with something more than your basic bread crumbs and celery.

"What you're going to see with these stuffings are stuffings that maybe have italian sausages, mangoes, mushrooms, ham," said Steve Kasmar, the school's Director of Culinary Arts.

The grand prize went to Lisa Kirk, who is about to graduate and is looking for a job. She received $100 and a plaque for finishing first.

Kirk wouldn't tell us the secret to her stuffing, but she did say it was a variation on her mom's recipe.
