Gang member sentenced to death for shootings

LOS ANGELES A Superior Court judge handed down the sentence against 32-year-old Kai Harris Friday.

Prosecutors say Harris shot 33-year-old George Brooks and his cousin, 52-year-old Annette Anderson, in an apartment over a drug money dispute.

Investigators say co-defendant Donte McDaniel shot two female witnesses, but they survived. Both men were convicted of murder and attempted murder. McDaniel was sentenced to death on March 20.

Judge Michael Johnson said it was "impossible to comprehend the violence against the three women."

The two women who survived suffered debilitating and permanent injuries, Johnson said.
