Lanes on both sides of the freeway will be restriped and shifted the second week of December.
The 10-mile long project is scheduled to be finished in spring of 2013.
When completed, lanes on both sides of the freeway will be wider and carpool lanes will run the entire length of the 405 from Sylmar to South Orange County.
