Tips to control your holiday eating habits

LOS ANGELES Keeping the weight off during the holidays is a big challenge for most.

Holiday meals are usually a plentiful buffet of food high in calories and fat.

And while some let go and eat all they can, others deny themselves any treats.

But you can achieve the right balance by following some tips.

Nutritionists at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston suggest: When you're invited to a party, offer to bring a healthy food dish; wear tight or form fitting clothes to holiday events; use a small plate or no plate for snacks; keep portions small and avoid going back for seconds; and take a family walk after your main holiday meal.
